The Visual Diary Guide supports The Arts Learning Area Content Descriptors for Year 7-10 so it is easy to map to the Achievement Standards in ACARA. The General Capabilities of Critical & Creative Thinking, Personal & Social, Ethical Understanding and Intercultural Understanding are incorporated. New curriculum requirements such as planning, viewpoints and working as an artist/audience are fully supported.
With respect to the new senior syllabus which is focused on ideation and creatively responding to a stimulus, students need to be able to make observational drawings confidently in Year 11 and be self-directed learners at Year 12. The Visual Diary Guide helps achieve this across Year 7-10.
Similarly, in the Technologies Learning Area students need to enter Year 11 being able to draw an object free hand (in perspective), which is what they practice throughout Year 7-10 with The Visual Diary Guide activities.
